Formula used
Tax = band amount (from the price per person per night = room price ÷ guests) × guests × nights (no tax on nights before 1 June 2026, when it started).
Example: 2 guests, room price ¥40,000 per night, 3 nights from 31 October 2026, Hotels, ryokan, simple lodging (pensions, lodges) and minpaku in Hakuba Village → ¥2,400 in total.
Not tax advice. Tourist taxes are set by local or national authorities and can change. They are usually collected by your hotel or host, who applies the official rules: check the final amount with your accommodation.
