Barcelona tourist tax 2026 and 2027: €6–€12 per person per night
In Barcelona you pay €6 to €12 per night for each guest aged 17 or over, depending on the type of accommodation. Only the first 7 nights of a stay are taxed and children under 17 pay nothing. From 1 April 2027: the Barcelona city surcharge rises from €5.00 to €6.00 per person per night (and to €7.00 from 1 April 2028). The Catalan rate for Barcelona from that date is not yet in the official table.

- 1 April 2027: City surcharge €6.00 per person per night (from €5.00), on top of the Catalan rate

Example: 2 adults, 3 nights from 31 October 2026, Hotel 5 stars, grand luxury, luxury campsite or equivalent → €72.00 in total.

Practical notes
- The amount per person per night is the Catalan rate plus the Barcelona surcharge (€5.00 from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027).
- Charged for a maximum of 7 days per stay. Under-17s do not pay.
- The surcharge rises to €6.00 from 1 April 2027 and €7.00 from 1 April 2028 (official table). The general rate for Barcelona from April 2027 is not yet in the official table, so the calculator stops at 31 March 2027.
- If you book and pay in advance (including the tax), the rate in force on the booking date applies.
- Cruise passengers pay a separate rate (not covered by this calculator).
Who collects it: The hotel or apartment operator, who pays it to the Catalan Tax Agency.
