Tourist tax in Spain 2026 and 2027: how much you pay in Barcelona, Catalonia and the Balearic Islands

Spain has no national tourist tax; the best-known regional ones are in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. In Barcelona you pay €6 to €12 per person per night, in the rest of Catalonia €0.80 to €4.50 (€1 to €6 from 1 April 2027), and in Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera €1 to €4 (the ecotasa, 75% lower from November to April). Under-17s pay nothing in Catalonia and under-16s in the Balearic Islands.
